Instructions for requesting Scholarship Winnings

Scholarship winners shall submit to the California Volunteer Scholarship Association, an official Statement of Intent through the forms on the official website. This statement must be submitted within 90 days after the State Competition or the award winnings will revert back to the Association.

Once the intent of use has been officially confirmed by the California Volunteer Scholarship Association, the contestant must complete the Scholarship Application as outlined in pages 3-9, and submit all forms in full to scholarship@misscaliforniavolunteer.com

Scholarships will be paid for tuition for credit courses only to those students in good academic standing. Any scholarship recipient must be able to prove their academic standing through an Official Transcript from the accredited college/university, may not have an Academic Warning, be on Academic Probation, be in Academic Recovery or have been granted Academic Dismissal Status in order for scholarship awards to be sent on the recipient’s behalf.

Scholarship recipients who have completed their education or training may use their Scholarship awards for outstanding student loan obligations, provided the loan is not in default, the recipient is the primary or secondary named on the loan, and provided the student has satisfactorily completed the coursework for which the loan was obtained. An itemized statement from the lending institution with letterhead or logo including documentation that shows the Scholarship Recipient as the primary or secondary payer of the loan obligation, and a copy of the Scholarship Recipient’s Diploma must be presented in order for the scholarship to be paid.

All monies will be paid by check directly to the accredited college, university, or school upon receipt of a tuition bill emailed by the Contestant to the State Director. The tuition bill must bear the name of the accredited college or university in letterhead or logo form, the amount owed, as well as the student’s name or student ID number. The Association cannot and will not reimburse Contestants for expenses that have already been paid to the college or university.

Use of the scholarship award must begin within twelve months from the date of the scholarship awarded, must be continuous and completed within two years. An exception will be made for the winner of Miss California Volunteer who will have three years from the date of winning the state title in order to use the scholarship awards won.

All cancelled, unrequested, forfeited or unused portions of scholarships will revert to the Miss California Volunteer Scholarship Association for redistribution.

Scholarship monies are paid immediately upon receipt of statements from accredited colleges, universities, or schools; however, this process may take up to three (4) weeks, depending upon the date and time the request is submitted, as well as processing by the college or university.

Final interpretation of all rules and regulations listed above will be made by the Board of Directors of the California Volunteer Scholarship Association.

By signing below, the Contestant and/or Scholarship Recipient accepts these rules and regulations.

In the event that the Winner of the State Competitions or one of its Runners Up relinquishes their title, the respective Organization will not succeed the scholarships and awards which are applicable to the vacated positions.
Paperwork needed for scholarship disperment:
Scholarship going towards Current Tuition Balance at College or University

Proof of acceptance of intent to use from California Volunteer Scholarship Association to Contestant with date of sent visible, requesting payment of scholarship to the college/university, the name of the awards and amount of scholarship associated with the award.

CURRENT and DETAILED copy of college/university tuition bill that MUST show a current balance. Any bills with a “zero balance” will not be accepted. Bill must show awardee’s name, student ID#, college/university logo/letterhead, as well as all other scholarship assistance, loans, etc.

Signed FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 1974) form attached. Please submit this form to your bursars office. This form must be on file at your school for use to address questions regarding charges on tuition statements.

Completed W-9 form with SSN included as well as physical signature, not digital.

Any W-9 completed with a digital signature will not be accepted.

Scholarship going towards Educational Loan Repayment:

A completed Scholarship Application filled out in its entirety

Proof of acceptance of intent to use from California Volunteer Scholarship Association to Contestant with date of sent visible, requesting payment of scholarship to her loan company listing the name of the awards and amount of scholarship associated with the award.

An itemized statement from the lending institution with letterhead or logo must be submitted, must show the account number, and must name the Scholarship Recipient as the primary or secondary payer of the loan obligation, the loan must be used only for educational purposes.

All instructions for payment of scholarship directly to the loan company. Loan must indicate the awardee as the primary or secondary on the loan agreement.
